Wall-Mounted Air Conditioning Units

Mounted high on the wall, these units sweep conditioned air across the room from above, which gives fast, even distribution and keeps the unit out of the way of furniture. They are the most efficient and affordable indoor unit type for most rooms, which is why they dominate domestic and small-office installations.

Modern wall units from Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu and Samsung are remarkably quiet — often below 20 dB(A) on their lowest fan setting, quieter than a library — and include built-in air filtration, dehumidification and smart app control as standard.

A wall-mounted unit can be the indoor half of a single-split system (one unit, one outdoor condenser) for a single room, or one of several units on a multi-split system sharing one outdoor condenser across the house.

Siting matters for performance and looks: ideally the unit goes on an external or convenient wall with a short refrigerant run to the outdoor condenser, clear of direct furniture obstruction and away from where cold draughts would fall on a bed or desk.
